There will be elections held in Aceh in May or June 2006.
It is part of a peace deal agreed with separatist rebels. The deal with the rebels from the Free Aceh Movement [GAM] is aimed at ending 26 years of bitter conflict. More than 15,000 people lost their lives.
The peace deal finally came together following the tsunami a year ago, which devastated large parts of the province. More than 120,000 Acehnese were killed in the disaster.
