Changes in New Cabinet Line-Up


Nothing much to indicate as a bold change. It is almost the same thing. ...We all have to wait and so Dato' Najib !!.
Two deputy ministers, Datuk Zainuddin Maidin and Datuk Zulhasnan Rafique, were promoted to ministers in a Cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Abdullah Badawi on Feb 14, which also saw two former ministers making a comeback to the Cabinet.

In the new line-up, three ministers swapped their portfolios while four others were not reappointed.

However, Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz ,Dato' Samy Velloo and Dato' Dr. Lim Kheng Yeik remains in their posts.

Announcing the changes, Abdullah said Deputy Federal Territory Minister Zulhasnan, who is also the Setiawangsa Member of Parliament, had been promoted to Minister of Federal Territory. The current Acting FT Minister is Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, who is also Women, Family and Community Development Minister. He also announced the promotion of Zainuddin, who is Deputy Information Minister, to Minister of Information, succeeding Datuk Seri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir, who has resigned.

The two returning to the Cabinet are former Agriculture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Effendi Norwawi and former Minister in the Prime Minister's (PM) Department Tengku Datuk Adnan Mansor.

Effendi has been appointed Minister in the PM's Department while Tengku Adnan the new Tourism Minister, replacing Datuk Dr Leo Michael Toyad, who was not reappointed. Minister in the PM's Department Datuk Mustapa Mohamed is now the new High Education Minister, taking over from Datuk Dr Mohd Shafie Salleh, who was dropped in the reshuffle.

Home Affairs Minister Datuk Azmi Khalid has been appointed Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, replacing Datuk Seri Adenan Satem.

Minister in the PM's Department Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad succeeds Azmi at the Home Affairs Ministry.
Abdullah also announced changes to several deputy minister portfolios.

Deputy Tourism Minister Datuk Zahid Hamidi and Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Chia Kwang Chye have been moved to the Information Ministry.

Two new Deputy Internal Security Ministers have been appointed - Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum and Datuk Fu Ah Kiew, who is the Deputy Higher Education Minister. Johari replaces Datuk Noh Omar, who is now the Deputy Education Minister, replacing Datuk Mahadzir Mohd Khir.

Deputy Information Minister Datuk Donald Lim is now the Deputy Tourism Minister.

Replacing Zulhasnan is Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusop while Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin is the new Deputy Finance Minister, succeeding Tengku Putera Tengku Awang.

Taking over from Fu is Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ong Tee Kiat, who is replaced by Datuk Liow Tiong Lai.

Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Kerk Choo Ting was not reappointed. He was replaced by Datuk Mah Siew Keong.
